Creating a digital presence - Obra ABC

Obra ABC shelters and provides a home to children coming from vulnerable family environments. Having a digital presence creates a new channel for this institution to raise awareness and ask for help and financial support.

1. Identified challenge


The pandemic highlighted the need for a digital presence to be "visible". For a charity, this need was even more evident when children who, without support, cannot even access online classes, depend on it. This was the case of Obra ABC, an institution in Porto, Portugal, that takes in children who come from fragile family situations.


In a scenario of online classes, curfew, cases of deaths by covid 19, the logistical and operational management to keep Obra ABC going was challenging. Simple things such as a donation button, for example, was non-existing and became a constraint to allow a sponsor to continue to help, for example.


2. Found solution


Create a dynamic website that would make it possible to publicize the mission of Obra ABC as well as attract benefactors interested in helping this institution in its mission of creating a home for children who come from fragile environments.This website was designed with the intention of having children feel proud to be in this new home.

4. Who supported Spread in operationalizing this intervention?


This solution was developed pro bono by Star Junior Enterprise, the first Junior Enterprise of Beira Interior, Portugal

 

5. What were the objectives of this intervention?

  • Facilitate the access of good-doers to the mission of Obra ABC through a donation button;

  • Give visibility to Obra ABC's mission to the Portuguese community;

  • Create a digital presence that allows it to be explored through updated blogs that Obra ABC will now be able to do.

 

6. What is the expected/generated social impact?
